Three couples – comprised of an employee and family member and selected from a pool of 40 applicants – competed in the six month “Trim2gether” contest. The couple losing the greatest combined percentage of body weight would win a $3,000 travel voucher.

The three couples were Covenant Health LOD specialist Leah Baker and her husband, Joe; Parkwest Patient Admissions Support Specialist Lauren Cochran, and her husband, Russell; and Melody and Scott Kellison. From November 2007 through May 2008, with the help of the Covenant Weight Management Center, the couples shed the pounds and gained a new outlook on life. While only one team could win the prize, all the teams reaped the benefits of healthier lifestyles.

During the length of the competition, the Cochrans lost a total of 33 pounds or 7 percent of their body weight, and the Bakers lost 78.5 pounds or 16 percent of their body weight. The three couples have a remarkable combined weight loss total of 229.5 pounds.

On Thursday, May 15, Covenant Weight Management Center celebrated the Kellisons’ win at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. The couple plans to use their $3,000 travel voucher prize to go on a cruise this summer.
